CRJ900
draws raves in India

Representatives of existing and start-up airlines and the media in India got a look at the CRJ900 during a week-long demonstration tour of the country in September, 2006. The aircraft was Bombardier's demonstrator, fitted with 75 passenger seats in a two-class configuration.
At New Delhi and Mumbai, the representatives were given technical briefings by Bombardier Regional Aircraft representatives, followed by a close-up inspection of the aircraft and a demonstration flight.

"Passengers commented favorably on the 'openness' of the 2nd generation CRJ interior's high comfort level with its increased legroom," said Steve Crowley, Vice-president, Asia/Pacific sales at Bombardier Regional Aircraft. "The low interior noise levels also drew favorable comment. The air conditioning got full marks as well, keeping the interior cool while on the ground despite the 37-degree, humid weather outside. Other passengers said they were surprised that the CRJ900 gets off the ground so quickly.

"All in all, I am confident that we left a very good impression on the airline executives who flew with us, especially because of the outstanding operating economics of the CRJ900," said Mr. Crowley

Bombardier's market forecast covering the period 2006-2025 predicts that increased competition in India and other parts of the Asia/Pacific region will allow low-fare carriers and regional airlines to gain share in markets previously dominated by the national flag carriers.

The CRJ900 aircraft's low operating costs make it the ideal aircraft for low-fare operations; the aircraft is filling that role at My Way Airlines and Air One in Italy.
